Jean-Pierre Leroy is a Haitian poet, author, musician, painter and multi-media journalist. From Radio Signal FM in Port-au-Prince (1995-2006) to Voice of America in Washington DC, VOA (2007-2015), he has been in the field of journalism for twenty years.
He signed his first poetry book, “Pou Yon Lòt Ayiti” (For a Brand New Haiti) at Howard University in October 2010. The following year, he took part to the international book fair “Livres en Folie” in Port-Au-Prince where he signed his first novel, “Retrouvailles de Rescapés”, the striking story of the Haitian Family who survived the 2010 earthquake. The English version of that book, Under The Rubble, was published the same year.
Jean-Pierre Leroy is a musician-composer. He plays the piano, the flute and the saxophone. He started with the piano at 16 years old with the late teacher, Solon C. Verret. He has been performing in Maryland and DC for the past 5 years either at his work place (Diversity Day Concert, Hispanic Heritage Month etc..) at church or at other social events.
As a painter, Jean-Pierre Leroy will exhibit his first twenty paintings in which he shows a diversity in his style and the third dimension of his talents.
